Exercise 4

Transmit the numbers them up.

Heading 060, heading 310, heading 273, FL 50, FL 240, FL 330, FL 100,

FL 150, FL 300, FL 310, frequency 132.0, frequency 119.7, frequency 129.1,

Work in pairs. Read and copy the numbers, then check.

Exercise 1

Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

local time местное время

Study the following.

When transmitting time, only the minutes of the hour are normally required. However, the hour should be included if there is any possibility of confusion. Time checks shall be given to the nearest minute. Co-ordinated Universal Time (UTC) is to be used at all times, unless specified. 24.00 hours designates midnight, the end of the day, and 0000 hours the beginning of the day.

Time Transmitted as
Two Three or Zero Eight Two Three
One Three Zero Zero
Five Seven or Two Zero Five Seven

Exercise 1

Study the callsigns for aeronautical stations.

Study the following.

When establishing communication an aircraft shall use the full callsigns of both stations. After satisfactory communication has been established and provided that no confusion is likely to occur, the ground station may abbreviate callsigns (see the table below). A pilot may only abbreviate the callsign of his aircraft if it has first been abbreviated by the aeronautical ground station.

Type Example
  Full Abbreviated
a) the characters corresponding to the registration marking of the aircraft; G-ABCD Cessna G-ABCD G-CD Cessna G-CD
b)the telephony designator of the aircraft operating agency, followed by the last four characters of the registration marking of the aircraft; or FASTAIR DCAB FASTAIR AB
c)the telephony designator of the aircraft operating agency, followed by the flight identification FASTAIR 345 No abbreviated form

Note: the name of the aircraft manufacturer or name of aircraft model may be used as a radiotelephony prefix to the Type a) above.
