Indirect questions
Вопросительное предложение
Существует два типа прямых вопросов:
1. Вопросы, начинающиеся с вопросительного слова: who, which, whose, when, why, how и т.д. (специальные вопросы).
2. Вопросы, начинающиеся с вспомогательного или модального глагола (общие вопросы).
При переходе прямого специального вопроса в косвенный происходят следующие изменения:
а). Вопросительный знак опускается, и вопросительный порядок слов в прямом вопросе заменяется порядком слов повествовательного предложения, т.е. сказуемое ставится после подлежащего.
б). Вопросительное слово, стоящее в начале вопроса, служит для присоединения косвенного вопроса к главному предложению.
в). Далее производятся те же изменения, как и при обращении в косвенную речь повествовательных предложений.
He asked me, “Why have you come so late?”
He asked me why I had come so late.
They asked me, “Where will you go tomorrow?”
They asked me where I would go the next day.
3. При переходе прямого общего вопроса в косвенный также происходят некоторые изменения:
а). Косвенный вопрос присоединяется к главному предложению при помощи союзов whether или if, имеющих значение частицы ли.
б). Вопросительный порядок слов в прямом вопросе заменяется порядком слов повествовательного предложения, т.е. сказуемое ставится после подлежащего.
She asked me, “Do you want to see the film?”
She asked me if I wanted to see the film.
I asked my sister, “Will you go to Italy in summer?”
I asked my sister whether she would go to Italy in summer.
