Вещественные существительные могут употребляться, как и в русском языке, для обозначения разных сортов и видов вещества и тогда они переходят в исчисляемые существительные, например:
wine – wines; fruit – fruits; glass – glasses; ice - ices
He prefers Caucasian wines to Crimean ones.
Он предпочитает кавказские винакрымским.
4. Абстрактные имена существительные переходят в исчисляемые, когда они конкретизируются, например: speech – speeches; amusement – amusements
Hisspeeches are always interesting.
Eгоречи (выступления) всегда интересны.
Animals do not possess the power of speech.
Животные не обладают даромречи.
