Introduction

The Benchmark Tool has been available within Axapta for some years, and since version 2.1, it has become an integrated part of the application.  The Benchmark Tool simulates a user performing different types of scripts. The tool has the ability to control a test with several computers running the same script, thus allowing a test of concurrency.  The tool gathers the measured response times, as well as other important information.

Purpose

This course is designed to help Axapta users fully avail of all features within the Benchmark tool.

By the end of the course, the student will have sufficient knowledge of the tool to be able to set-up and run benchmark tests.

Prerequisites

Course Participants should have:

working experience of Axapta modules.

An understanding of the benchmark idealology, gained through reading this document in advance of the lesson.

Class schedule

This is a one-day class. A two-day workshop will follow the class at a later date. Please check with your local Navision office for further information.

Key to the material

General

This Student Guide comprises three lessons, each explaining a range of Axapta specific subjects and functionalities. All lessons are developed in relation to common business logic and the subjects and functionalities are presented within the perspective of the usual business procedures familiar to most users.

This material is a supplement to the instructor’s explanations during the course, and is not tailored for individual studies without tutoring.

In the beginning of each lesson, there is a brief overview of the lesson and a list of lesson objectives, outlining the subjects and functionalities involved in each lesson

The eye symbol is used whenever there is an example of a program functionality or process within the text. The purpose of the examples is to make it easier to relate the theoretical aspects of the course to the working of Damgaard Axapta outside classroom training.

Structure/flow of the course

This course contains 3 lessons that deal with the Axapta Benchmark Tool. Lesson 1 covers the initialization phase needed before the benchmark Tool can be used. Lesson 2 teaches the student how to use the tool and run benchmark tests. Finally, the course concludes with a lesson on how the results from the benchmark test should be analyzed.

Lesson 1: Creating a company
